In the spirit of the election season, teachers at the Abraham and Sara Silber YOSS Mechina deviated from their standard curriculum, the thirteen colonies and the American Revolution, and instead focused on the democratic process.

Each student was assigned a candidate from this month’s election. Students varied from congressional candidates on a federal level, to city council candidates on a local level. After researching their respective candidates, the students prepared campaign speeches that reflected the views of their candidates. The students were very excited about following all the elections to see which candidates won, and ultimately gained a greater appreciation for the democratic process.
