The YOSS Forensics Club recently put their hard-earned skills to the ultimate test when the school’s Science Lab was transformed into a fully staged crime scene — complete with yellow police tape, numbered evidence markers, and scattered clues waiting to be catalogued.
“Who will they find guilty of the crime? Can’t wait to find out!”
Before a single piece of evidence was touched, Mrs. Fitzpatrick — Forensics Club and Science Coordinator — led the young investigators through a thorough debriefing of the scene. Armed with that briefing, the students suited up in proper crime scene attire: gloves, eye shields, booties, and protective gowns, all worn to ensure that no outside trace evidence would compromise the integrity of the investigation.
With gear on and notebooks ready, the team fanned out across the marked floor, carefully collecting and documenting each piece of evidence. From crumpled foil and scattered objects to curious items near the perimeter, every clue was treated with professional care — because in forensics, even the smallest detail can crack a case wide open.
The mock investigation is part of an ongoing effort at YOSS to bring real-world science disciplines into the hands of students — making abstract concepts tangible, engaging, and genuinely exciting. Stay tuned as our junior CSI team works to analyze the evidence and close the case
